The ten facts, and how to say them in Chinese
Score one point for each fact that is correct and easy to find in Chinese on the page customers see first (your directory profile, map listing or website).
| Fact | Why it decides the visit | Example phrasing |
|---|---|---|
| 1. What you offer, in one sentence | Category names alone are vague |
| 2. Opening hours, including holidays | Visitors plan around short trips |
| 3. Exact address and entrance | Hard-to-find entrances lose walk-ins |
| 4. Payment methods | Many mainland visitors expect mobile wallets |
| 5. Price range | Avoids surprises and wasted trips |
| 6. Booking or walk-in | Nobody wants to queue for nothing |
| 7. Languages spoken | Sets expectations honestly |
| 8. Menu or price list readable in Chinese | Language barriers shape where people eat |
| 9. Real photos | Photos answer questions faster than text | Entrance, interior, top products |
| 10. How to contact you | Questions before visiting are common | WhatsApp /
On fact 8: Dragon Trail reported that travel agents’ top suggestion to restaurants in one destination was Chinese-language menus, or menus with photos.
What your score means
| Score | Next step |
|---|---|
| 0–4 | Write facts 1–5 in Chinese first. They are the ones that stop people from even considering you. |
| 5–7 | Add the readable menu or price list and real photos; set up mobile wallet payments if fact 4 is missing. |
| 8–10 | Keep it accurate. Review every holiday season and whenever prices change. |

Errors that cost visits
Different hours in different places
If a map says you are open and the door is locked, the visitor rarely tries again. Change hours everywhere on the same day.
Photos that are not yours
Stock photos or images from another branch set expectations you cannot meet. Use current photos of this location.
“Chinese spoken” when it is only sometimes true
Say when Chinese-speaking staff work, or say that customers can message in Chinese instead.
Common questions
Is a long description better?
No. Customers scan on a phone. Short lines with one fact each are easier to read than paragraphs.
Where should this information live?
Wherever Chinese-speaking customers look first: a Chinese directory profile, your map listing and a Chinese section on your website. Keep the facts identical in all three.
