Check the payment schemes enabled under the outlet’s acquiring agreement, then check how your staff confirm and reconcile those transactions. This guide separates the label, the payment service and the merchant agreement for a Singapore shop using a NETS route. It does not compare every provider or claim your account has been approved.
Read your existing setup as three separate layers
Start with a photograph of the label actually used at the counter and the corresponding provider record. Keep merchant identifiers private. The three questions below describe different jobs; answering one does not answer the other two.
- The payment service: PayNow Corporate links an entity’s Singapore UEN to its bank or e-wallet account for Singapore-dollar transfers. ABS describes paying an SGQR label with the PayNow logo through a participating bank app. That does not establish Alipay+ acceptance. [1]
- The displayed label: SGQR combines payment QR codes in a label. NETS currently distinguishes SGQR and SGQR+ products; its comparison presents Alipay+ as optional under the former. Check your actual product and enabled schemes, rather than assuming every similarly designed sticker is equivalent. [2]
- The acquiring arrangement: NETS describes Alipay+ as automatically included with NETS QR on its overseas-wallet page, while its SGQR product comparison lists Alipay+ as an option. These are different product descriptions. Match your outlet’s label or terminal to its actual NETS arrangement; do not assume every PayNow QR or older SGQR label has the same scope. [3]
For a broader explanation of the wallet names and QR modes, use the international wallet guide. Keep this page for the Singapore counter check: which label, which outlet and which acquiring arrangement?
Turn “we already have QR” into a specific next action
| What you can show | What it establishes | What to do next |
|---|---|---|
| A PayNow registration or PayNow-branded QR | Your documented PayNow arrangement | Ask your bank or acquirer which additional payment schemes, if any, are enabled. Do not add an Alipay+ acceptance claim to your customer information yet. |
| An existing NETS SGQR label or terminal | The particular NETS product you hold | Identify the NETS product and confirm the enabled schemes for this outlet. The overseas-wallet page describes automatic inclusion with NETS QR; its SGQR comparison uses optional wording. Ask about a specific label or terminal rather than an unspecified “Chinese QR”. |
| Written confirmation of the relevant schemes | The scope stated in that confirmation | Match it to the outlet, channel and device. Prepare a cashier check and customer replies before publishing acceptance wording. |
| A successful merchant-side transaction record | That recorded transaction | Match amount, outlet and reference to the order; then reconcile the provider report and bank credit separately. One transaction does not prove every wallet account will work. |
Read the current NETS overseas-wallet instructions. Its FAQ directs existing merchants to the online enquiry route; new merchants are directed to the terminals/SGQR application form and online enquiry. Use that route for your situation, retaining the provider’s confirmation with the outlet record.
Write the cashier’s check before printing an acceptance sign
NETS tells merchants using its SGQR labels to check the NETSBiz success notification; for NETS QR on a terminal, it identifies the terminal response and receipt. It also says the merchant-side response takes precedence when it differs from the customer’s app. Use the instructions for the channel you actually operate. [3]
The practical handover is more specific than “look for a green screen”. Decide who checks the merchant response, how it is matched to the sale and what happens when the two records disagree. Keep the customer’s own confirmation in context rather than accepting a screenshot as your complete till record.
Counter handover — complete for this outlet Label or terminal used: [identify privately] Enabled payment schemes: [provider confirmation and date] Merchant-side confirmation: [app or terminal and responsible staff role] Sale amount and transaction reference: [where staff compare them] If the merchant response is missing or different: [provider escalation procedure] Refund channel and authorised staff role: [confirmed procedure] End-of-day reconciliation: [report and person responsible]
This is an editorial worksheet, not a provider form or a tested integration. Use the price-explanation guide when drafting what the customer sees, and the reply guide when preparing a calm response to a payment query. Do not translate an unconfirmed transaction into “payment received”.
Find out how a refund works before promising an in-app reversal
The NETS Alipay+ QR FAQ describes a cash-refund arrangement with documented customer acknowledgement because the specified SGQR/terminal QR route has no refund-system feature. This is a product-specific instruction, not a statement about every Alipay integration. Confirm the current process for your agreement and the original transaction before acting. [3]
A customer being charged, your merchant record showing success and your bank account receiving a settlement are separate observations. When investigating, keep the order, merchant record and bank entry together. Ask the provider how to resolve uncertainty before creating another payment or refund that could leave two unresolved amounts.
NETS’s overseas-wallet page advertises settlement in SGD on the next business day. Its SGQR page separately advertises same-day settlement. Keep those product statements distinct: check which arrangement covers your Alipay+ transactions, its cut-off and working-day rules. Neither statement establishes the timing of your own bank credit. [2, 3]
Before adopting a route, obtain a written answer to these commercial questions: the fees for the enabled wallet and channel; any equipment or installation charges; the currency credited; the settlement cut-off and working-day rules; and how refunds affect the original fee. This page does not publish a universal Singapore fee or guaranteed payout time. Keep the provider’s answer beside your contract, not merely in a staff chat.
Tell customers what this outlet can actually accept
Once the route is confirmed, publish a short, accurate payment statement with your real business details. Choose the appropriate Chinese script for the audience, and keep acceptance wording consistent with your Chinese menu and price information. Translating a logo or a contract does not enable a wallet.
Keep the outlet identity consistent too. A Chinese business name is customer-facing wording, not a reason to alter the merchant identity on a payment agreement. When updating other public information, use the Google Business Profile guide to keep the actual location and confirmed facts clear; do not announce unapproved wallet support.
If you need help preparing your public introduction, review Shoujia’s presentation service and how information is prepared and checked. That work concerns business information; it does not replace a bank or acquirer application. You can find your existing listing and check free listing and optional editorial service terms separately. For other customer-facing tasks, use the guide library.
